Star comes from a small town in Western Australia called Marble Bar.
Marble Bar is a mining town and as it is named, Mines Marble for counter tops etc, it also holds the
record for the hottest place in Australia (average temp of 50'c). Once a year they have a horse race
which racehorses come from all over the State/ Country to compete, as the purse is in the
thousands. People come from all over Australia to watch this unique race called the Marble Bar
Cup and of course for the party after the race The Marble Bar Ball. Once a year the population
booms and for once there are more people in this small bush town than there are Kangaroos.
Stardance's history is very blurred as in the bush we choose a good horse by what it can do, not
what the bloodline is. The various rumours i have heard was that Stars Dam was a Thoroughbred
Mare from the largest station (ranch) in the area called Coruna Downs Station. This mare has won
the Marble Bar Cup many times and i have also been told from the previous owners (Bosna Lodge)
she also won the Port Hedland Cup.
Anyway the story has it that this Mare (Star's Dam) while in season (heat) got out and was bred by a
Wild Australian Paint Brumby that roams the Pilbara Desert of Western Australia adding many
Broodmares to his herd. Stars dam was found running with the wild Brumbies and was brought
back to Corruna Downs Station where Star was born.
Stardance is one exceptional Mare, no matter what i ask her to do, she does it. She LOVES to
Jump,Barrel and play Games and she is such fun to ride ( she is hot hot hot). I purchased her from
Alida Watson at Bosna Lodge Equestrian Centre in Port Hedland Western Australia in 1996. When
you grow up in the Bush of Australia there are no horse shows to compete in, other than what the
local people put together, (and i have many ribbons) so she has no show record. And, i was a
mother of 2 young children so Star was really only a paddock ornament that i rode once a week if i
was lucky.
Stardance and Miss X started their EPIC journey from Australia to America in 2000. From Port
Hedland Western Australia they were trucked to Perth and then to Sydney Australia where they
boarded an airplane and was flown by IRT (International Racehorse Transport) to Los Angeles
America then trucked to Kentucky and then their final destination to Erie Pennsylvania. We moved
to Melbourne Florida in 2004.
I am planning on breeding her to Chief in 2009 and sooooo excited about the cross.
This foal no matter what the sex WILL NOT BE FOR SALE.
